Hannah Kim singing in Youth Music Festival Concert
at The Frederick Loewe Theatre

Walking down the mile

she said take off your shoes
and stay for a while if you have time what do you do
when you’re off in the world
whats on your mind
not much has changed i dyed my hair you see i stay busy
I watch tv
i get up in the morning”
and from her window seat
she smiled
at her fig tree growing wild
don’t forget to take one ‘fore you leave child ain’t nothing harder
than walking down the mile
we played with words

for a while
she thanked me with her eyes its always hard in the end gotta dance through
saying goodbye
i kissed her then
the kitchen, turning red: she said quietly
come back to me
before the year’s end
and from her window seat
she smiled
at her fig tree growing wild
don’t forget to take one ‘fore you leave child ain’t nothing harder
than walking down the mile
ain’t nothing harder
than walking down the mile
