I attended “Constructive Figure Drawing” classes by John A. Varriano. During the entire four hours of class, the students drew the nude body of a young, beautiful female model. Everyone either had an option to draw by using an easel or by sitting on a chair, in which I always chose the former. The class would start by drawing quick 1 minute sketches, which in fact felt like 5 seconds. After the most difficult exercise was over, we moved on to longer times: 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes and so on. Often, when Mr. Varriano is present, he would show a demo to the class and explain the structures and muscles of the body in detail.
It was interesting how I was the youngest to be there, and how almost all of the other students were seniors. It was lucky for me to have them as classmates because there was so much to learn from their knowledge and complexity of lines.
