National Velvet

In National Velvet, there is some contents that discriminate against gender and depending on gender, works they have to do is being discriminated. Mrs. Brown was obesity and she said to her daughters that they should pray to be thin forever. They had to be clean and neat whenever they are going out, dressed up with formalism. Velvet has to have her plate in to look pretty. They think that marriage is all of woman’s life. Man does all of the works and has most responsibilities to lead the family. There are people like Mi Taylor who has overflowing confidence that he can’t feel the needs to show his masculine side. My bicycle teacher has great self-confidence and he doesn’t really try to show off his masculinity. He is not conscious about sex roles. He doesn’t think gender really matters with everything. There is women who takes roles of a male in the technical aspect. Also, there is women who take it rather than technical part such as appearance, personality, or strength. My mom is a professor about teaching technology and coding. She thinks there has to be more opportunity for women and girls to be interested in technology. She wants more women to be in technology field. My friend is very masculine and gets along with boys really well. She has similar habitats with the boys and is really active. She always have her hair shortly cutted like boys. She says that she wants to break the prejudice that girl has to be nice and pretty,  and that it doesn’t matter to behave like her. Our nation is made of homogeneous society. In our nation, we never had blacks and whites. That made us have preconception towards them. According to a well educated black professor, he said that there was a person who gave money to him saying to buy some loaf of bread with it. Also, many aged people think that our life is completely different according to gender. Many people are trying to change those preconceptions.
